I can cut my monthly costs by two thirds by moving to Plusnet when my BT contract ends in a few weeks.

As BT own Plusnet, would I just keep my BT routers and discs, or would Plusnet send now ones?

You'll probably find that BT will want their router and discs returned. Plusnet will supply a new Hub2 router which is similar to the BT Smart Hub 2. They don't supply discs.

Thanks. If they don't supply discs I won't be able to get coverage all over my house. Are we supposed to buy them ourselves? They're about £90!

NB: We have a solar panel and battery system which need continuous connection to the Internet, but the equipment is at the opposite end of the house to where the fibre enters the house, i.e. and where the router is. At present we have a BT extension disc which the solar panel equipment can 'see'.

@SkylineUK_Dup Without more info about which router and discs you have it is difficult to assist. I believe the latest BT Hubs do not allow a Plusnet user to login. Some types of discs need a BT app to set them up, not available on Plusnet.

Plusnet's Hub2 has reasonable coverage but not for a large property, so you will have to provide the equipment required to achieve full coverage. Ethernet connected wireless access points are the best way to do it, or a different router that supports a wireless mesh system. Expect to have to spend some money.☹️

Edit: Just a thought, you could move the router to a more central position in the house with an ethernet connection, it doesn't have to be near the ONT

You said in your OP you were moving from BT to lower your monthly costs - shock, horror - you can't have your cake and eat it.

I'll say no more, oh, except that £90 is far less than the cost of a solar panel and battery system ...
