@colin72 Don't believe a word of what plusnet has told you, it's nonsense, why would anyone want to re-route a cable when the account was ceased? It is definitely possible to arrange for Openreach to re-route a cable to allow for building work. However I'm pretty sure it has to be arranged by Plusnet, the public have very limited direct access to Openreach.

So you either wait for a staff reply to your post or call again and hope you speak to someone who knows that it can be done.

Best of luck.😀

Hi,

We're about to have some building work done and it will cross the current route that the fibre optic cable takes on the outside of the property.

I think our preferred option would be to have the cable come into the house at a different point away from the building work.

I rang Plusnet today and, as far as I understood, I can not request a cable reroute unless the cable is damaged or our account has ceased (closed). And there were no guarantees on timeframe for that which would be a problem as I WFH.

Is it not possible to just pay, which I'm happy to do, for an existing cable to be rerouted?

Cheers,

As it's due to building work you can request the fibre cable be moved.

This is one of those rare occasions you can speak to OpenReach direct. Look through their website to find the form needed.

www.openreach.co.uk

As you're having building work done consider if there is any need to run ethernet cable at the same time (to improve coverage).

@bmc I had a quick look at the Openreach site and only found a way to object to openreach equipment (poles etc)

Had another look and found a more useful form for business and home owners.

Altering our network

@colin72 Looks like you may be able to arrange this directly with Openreach.

@Baldrick1 beat me to it. 🙄
