Where’s my Static IP??

Hi All

Been with Plusnet since 2023 and have had a static IP since then.

I don’t use it much but VPN into my home when away to connect to things at home.

The address seems to have gone and now can’t connect to anything has somethings changed?

It was one of the main reasons for coming to Plusnet so hope its just a glitch

Hey @AKWatson,

I have taken a look into your account and I can still see the static-ip is active and currently working as it has been assigned to your current connection.

OK thanks for that, I can’t see it on my portal anymore and my router was reporting a different address.

I’ll try another reboot

It is no longer possible to request a Static IP, as a result the members centre no longer displays your current static IP Address.

https://ipchicken.com/ is a quick way to check your current IP Address and its Name Address

Name Address ending in .dyn.plus.net is dynamic

OK thanks for the info.

Ive rebooted everything and seems OK again now.

What happens at the end of my current contract will I keep the IP address if I renew again with PlusNet (which I am likely to do....)

@AKWatson Yes, as the IP is allocated to the account, barring accidents, you should retain the same static IP.
