i have underground phone line. i belive our estate has fiber to the box on the street corner

Then your Full Fibre installation will use your current ducting. Is FTTP available to you? - check using either of these two links, the first one preferably' if you still have a landline phone.

If Full Fibre is available to you it'll be run from the underground chamber that serves your house. The fibre optic cable for FTTP (usually) goes nowhere near the FTTC street cabinet.

If you check the PN website does it offer Full Fibre for your address?

@rehtnap2023 Are you able to get full fibre, fill in the BTW DSL Checker below and post the results.

The box on the corner will not provide full fibre, just fibre to the cabinet, then copper to your house as now.

it says FTTP is not available... so am i right in that they would use copper cable already in from the cabinet

You could check the OR website to see if there are any FTTP plans for your area - www.openreach.com

At some point in the near future (probably by the end of this year) you will lose your copper landline. You internet service will continue to use the copper wire from the cabinet but will be on an OR product called SOGEA.

As before, if you want to keep your number you need to take action within 30 days of going on SOGEA.

i worked out i will have to use partial cable broad band and bt or zen seem to be the only provider offering keeping the landline..

That would be keeping the landline NUMBER as a bundled service. No one is keeping voice over copper, that is as in the land line as we know it.
