Hi All

I switched my BT phoneline to Andrew and Arnold VOIP. I have 3 Yealink VOIP telephones, but I just cant setup the voicemail. Does anyone know if there is a way to get voicemail on Yealink phones using A&A.

The website says 1571, which I do, and record message, but it doesn't save the message and I cant receive the voicemail.

Website says it will email the voicemail to me, which it does, but I find that kind of stupid that you cant just listen to the voicemail from the actual VOIP phone.

Any help please

AFAIK there is no way with A&A to dial in and listen to voicemail. Some providers do provide that option but not A &A , it's email only I'm afraid.

As @MisterW says, that's the way it works with A&A, saves them storing voice messages so enables simpler, cheaper services.

They just record any message left and email it to you. Personally I find it suits and I was aware of that before I contracted with them.

If you want to access recordings from your phone handset you'll need presumably to have a more conventional "answerphone" system that stores messages on a local recorder run by you.

I used to have that and was actually quite glad to get rid of it, I can pick up messages almost anywhere via my mobile phone.

As a point of interest, is that possible with VoIP? I'm with Zen, and any messages are stored on my machine, accessible via the 'phone control' section of my router.

Thanks all, I'm not too bothered as we don't really get that many voicemails anyway. Shame really though, as the phone has a USB port, so would have been handy if you could have just inserted a usb stick and had the calls recorded locally.

I know you can record all incoming and outgoing calls to the usb stick, so seems strange it cant do voicemail.

Oh well, never mind, thanks for the quick reply's

As a point of interest, is that possible with VoIP?

Yes, the fact that its voip makes no difference, if your phone has a built-in answerphone then you can set that to answer before the voip system answers and to record the call locally.

Some voip providers provide a message store on their systems which can be accesssed by phone. Sipgate do that, my voip phone ( N300 ) will tell me there is a voicemail using its MWI (Message waiting indicator) and I can dial the sipgate voicemail number to retrieve it (similar to the way mobile voicemail works). They also email me the notification of the voicemail (and missed calls! ) so its the best of both worlds.

@Harro what model is your phone ?

maybe it has local answerphone capability and you just need to 'tweak' the settings so it answers before the A & A system

Fair enough, @MisterW I admit I haven't explored that possibility as I'm perfectly happy using the 'via computer' option, and the batteries in my handsets are old and don't really last long enough to listen to messages. I use a headset when answering calls -very few on the 'landline'.
