Apologies once again, I meant Fiber to the property, so many acronyms to get mixed up. Would the above still be correct?

Hi all,

I am currently getting FTTC installed through plusnet, can anyone confirm if my old broadband line through Sky will still be usable? I would preferably like to keep both connections running if at all possible.

Thanks!

@Twookeq The only way to do that is to have two phonelines - you can only have one broadband connection over a single line.

I was led the believe FTTC is ran on a separate line (sky land-line will still be active)

*edit* my mistake, I mean FTTC

You were wrongly advised - the 'SKY' connection will be taken over by Plusnet.

I think that may be possible, but it will cost - you will have to pay for both.

However, I would wait for confirmation from someone with more knowledge .

In that case , your Sky broadband and landline should remain active ( and you will still be paying SKY for them ).

The FTTP install will run a separate Fibre cable, either undergroup or from the pole, to your property and put an ONT inside , to which the Plusnet router is connected.

One thing to note, is that sometimes the installation engineer will plam to use the existing cable e.g if its underground to pull the fibre through any ducting. On installation day, make sure that the engineer knows the existing service is to be retained.

There's a useful guide here https://www.openreach.com/help-and-support/full-fibre-broadband-installation-checklist as to how FTTP is installed
