Safeguard DNS server IP address

Hi,

I note that on the website (https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/about-dns-server-and-website-settings/) both the primary and secondary Safeguard DNS is listed as 213.120.234.42.

Does anyone know what the alternative is for Safeguard DNS? I'd prefer to configure two rather than one for redundancy.

Presumably you have your own modem/router?

You can’t set the DNS server(s) on Plusnet hubs, Plusnet set it for you remotely.

Yes. I have my own router, however actually this is for the DNS I'm running (it filters out rubbish sites by giving them 127.0.0.1 response) however if it's not in the filter list (local DNS entries) then it refers to the PlusNet DNS. I normally have SafeGuard switched on so am referring to this PlusNet DNS however at the moment can only configure a Primary DNS since there is no (different) Secondary specified.

PlusNet help was no good so was hoping someone in the community (or a more knowledgeable PlusNet technician here) could help.

You could replace the PN DNS with something like OpenDNS which also filters out by category etc. and in my experience can be faster than the PN DNS.

In my experience, response times to/from our DNS servers are faster than the alternatives.

Thanks Baldrick1. That's where the thread started - i.e. I'm raising that PN has duplicated one address there and I'd expect them to have two. I was hoping someone might know what the second one was...

@Gandalf - thanks. Note that I have suggested the opposite designation to you. The address ending .38 should be primary as that is how our RADIUS platform assigns things.
