Since the move to Greenby spam starting has started to appear at first it was 5-6 a day and they were all to a particular email address I set up years ago when purchasing Adobe software.

On my email account at Greenby I set up a block of all emails sent to the Adobe address and the amount of spam has reduced to 1 or 2 a day, I don't understand how some are getting through if that have the address I have blocked. On Thunderbird I've now set up a filter that sends the offending emails to delete which I then clear.

Is there a way to stop the emails even arriving...I notice on the Thunderbird filter there is the option to "Delete from POP Server" would that do the trick?

Spam comes from a spammer running a script that consumes an email list including our email address.
Greenby is not implicated in the level of spam sent to our mailboxes.

In fact the opposite may be the case, the Plusnet [-SPAM-] filter stopped working almost a year ago
and Greenby have quite an aggressive Spam Filter that is in the Email Settings of www.greenby.com

Think very carefully before enabling the Greenby Spam Filter if you use POP3. The spam filter will divert messages to the server's Spam folder and these will not be seen in the POP3 collection which only reads from the mail server's Inbox.

This is important as many one time passwords / number codes are snagged as spam and that would block the ability to receive the two factor component of an account login or of its password recovery process.

The POP3 delete from server is about how many weeks or months of messages to keep on the server before deletion, this is unrelated to spam.

Thank you for the information. What I don't understand is how the emails slip through the Greenby filter I set up, the filter in Thunderbird catches the offending emails.

I was transferred to Greenby a few months ago, I'm drowning in SPAM but it's NOT the fault of Greenby

I've been plagued by SPAM emails off and on for the past few months. I've had my plus.com email address for 20+ years, my email address has been in too many data breaches - I expect all the charmers have it now.

But back in April i got literally 1000's of emails a day from my own spoofed email address Subject: YOU PERVERT! I RECORDED YOU! They all end in the SPAM folder, but it's difficult to comb through such a torrent looking for real emails.

Greenby managed to block them even getting into my SPAM folder.

But this week it's kicked off again.

Started with "YOUR DEVICE WAS HACKED!" - But has now moved onto "YOU GOT RECORDED!", Since Sunday midnight I've received 8700 emails from "myself" demanding money and bitcoin wallet address 1DhsYTTP2zTuStDfdW9Ft8VhqQVgg6YXmp, I got 3K+ emails on Monday alone.

I've tried to use the webmail filter on Greenby's webmail tool, as has their Support Agent, no success

I've tried many filters to delete the SPAM before I even see it in the SPAM folder, but nothing works.

I then tried a different approach, I set filters for the normal "junk" emails that get to my Inbox e.g. Linkedin, EaseUS, etc. Low and behold the filters do work on the InBox emails and they end up being deleted or sent to a specific folder. I tried marking a few emails as NOT SPAM to gety them back in the Inbox to see if my filter would delete them but that hasn't worked yet

I believe once an email has been tagged as SPAM e.g. YOUR DEVICE WAS HACKED!, the webmail filters stop working on the email. I've setup rules in Outlook that will delete these emails but I don't see how Greenby's webmail system will work if we can't also

As I said I've had a plus.com email address for 20+ years, I think I will need to change to a new email address to get rid of the "charmers"

My wife’s emails address also get the same emails, but a much lower level than me.

It was passed to the Senior team on Monday, not sure what they'll do.

PS- I've got another 72 emails in the 15 mins I've been writing this post 😀
