How to close my PlusNet email account before it gets migrated to Greenby?

I have PlusNet fibre broadband and email. I have not yet received any messages from PlusNet or Greenby to say that my email account is due to be, or has been migrated to Greenby.

I want to keep the fibre broadband, but want to close the PlusNet email service before it gets migrated. How do I go about doing this?

You should get an email from Plusnet regarding the upcoming transfer, there is an opt-out link to stop the transfer to Greenby. If you opt-out, then your email account will be closed (when the transfer is scheduled) instead of being transferred.

If you are opting out then you need to make sure that the contact address on your Plusnet account is not a Plusnet email address

I am concerned that I might miss the email and that the migration would then go ahead. I would like to pre-empt this by closing the email service sooner.

I dont think there's any other way to close an email account.

The best you can probably do in the mean time, is to delete any additional mailboxes, aliases , redirects and contacts.

Then disable any catch-all.

@RichT I am also concerned that although I have apparently "opted out" on several occasions and my email account should have been deleted back in November 25 it is still there and I can log into it. It's useless as it can't send emails, I just want rid of it. See this thread that I posted last year

It's possible that there is a way to achieve what we want, see msg#7 in the above thread ...

"I can arrange the instant closure of your email address if it's not used."

@plusnettony This has dragged on for too long and with the total chaos of the migration to Greenby I am making a request for my Plusnet email account to be deleted.

@PhilipHeyes I don't want to manage my Plusnet mail, I don't use it, there is no option to delete your email account on the link you have provided.

@RichT I've created a ticket on your account. Can you please visit portal.plus.net, and reply to my message confirming it's OK to delete your mailbox/web space etc and I'll do it now for you. You'll also need to let me know your domain name, and an IPS tag so that we can move that for you.

@RealAleMadrid - We've discussed this previously and I already have your permissions so I've deleted yours this morning.

@plusnettony I delayed responding as I could still log into my email account yesterday, however i noticed a ticket on my member centre account .....

10:03am, Monday 9 Feb 2026

Sent 'auto_destroy' signal to component #54589221 (Plus.net Mailboxes).

I guessed this was probably some scheduled job to delete accounts and I can confirm that I can no longer access my email account, it's gone.

Yep, all gone. As soon as that happened, the mailboxes should cease.
