My emails to btinternet addresses are being blocked/not received by addressee and returned as suspected SPAM. How to fix please?

I had the same problem when sending an email to someone with an @outlook.com email address.

A few hours later it cleared itself.

Its a mystery as to why, but I am happy that it did.

I have now found out that these problems are all to do with Plusnet email transferring to "Greenby" and can't be fixed until that is completed. Meanwhile I will have to use Gmail instead!

Who told you that? From other topics about Plusnet messages being blocked on this forum, it seems to me that it's got nothing to do with the migration and everything to do with parts of Plusnet's email network being blacklisted. Such blacklisting can be, and is being fixed. Having said that, it does feel like that as fast as one block is lifted another one comes down.

Been told by Plusnet "Help" that there's nothing that they can do as it's all now gone to Greenly, so just got to wait until the transfer is complete and that the blacklisting gets solved!? Meanwhile use something else, e.g. gmail.

@Simon109 Don't believe what PN first-line support tell you about the mail service - they have no training/guidance on it as it is being transferred to Greenby.

Is your email address a 'plus.com' one, or one of the legacy brands?

Yes it's .plus.com and appears to be blacklisted by btinternet

Your BTinternet customer needs to talk to them, but note the service is actually provided by 'Yahoo', who have some strange ideas.

As ever with these issues, detailed clarity of the error is essential to delivering assistance.

First of all, as advised, the first line support advice is deeply flawed. @James_B has been working hard to driver better understanding within the front line team.

There are two types of blocking…

Sending email address being blocked
Sending mail server being blocked

The first is a block by Plusnet’s outbound servers and is associated with security concerns with some characteristics of the sender.

The second is a block by the receiving inbound server because of poor reputation on Plusnet’s outbound servers which is usually related to user base activity that leads to the first block.

When you’re clear about which block scenario you are encountering, then the appropriate action can be instigated.

I'm afraid I don't understand what exactly the problem is. I'm just a non tech-savvy plusnet user - the same thing used to work OK and now it suddenly doesn't anymore. Maybe I'll just have to switch to some other email provider that does work?

Sadly, Plusnet's offloading of this system and ending of support has ended my confidence in it, so that I shall be moving to a more reliable product. Frankly, it would have been more honest if they had simply given notice of its closure and advised users to find another replacement.
