Green Bay migration: multiple email addresses, same username : reassurance please

For clarity and for my peace of mind, what is being migrated to Green Bay?

As I understand it, let's say my Email Username is fred.

I have what seems to be called a Default Mailbox called john@fred.plus.com

One of the great advantages of plusnet is that I can and do use ANY email address of the form xxx@fred.plus.com

I have hundreds of such 'alias' email addresses in use - e.g car@fred.plus.com, hospital@fred.plus.com, hmrc@fred.plus.com

Will I have the same function and the same facilties for unlimited 'aliases' after migration?

If so, good!

If not, what will happen when emails get sent from, say, my bank, to lloyds@fred.plus.com?

The ACCOUNT is being migrated - that means mailboxes, aliases, redirects and catchall.

That said on initial migration some accounts have encountered issues with aliases and redirections. The matter is under review.

Thanks for your reply. I can't say I'm reassured. The 'matter being under review' suggests not everything has been thought through, so the 'issues' have come as a surprise. Why am I, as someone who started programming in 1964, not surprised?!

As someone who started programming in 1964, you would know that sometimes gremlins fall out of the woodwork only after a system starts to get hammered. This clearly has been thought about because the aliases and redirects HAVE been transferred to the new service; this appears to be an issue with the service, not the migration.

I* can give you some reassurance:

Immediately after migration, I could receive NO emails from any external sources. Following the intervention of the forum experts, including @Townman, the issue was solved and all my mailboxes can receive messages. This includes messages addressed to "anyname@username.free-online.co.uk". I, too, make use of this facility - just make sure that the "CatchAll" option in your account setting is set to "ON".

What's worrying about this migration is the lack of documentation and help - what little there is, is often inconsistent. All the signs of a project with very few resources.

PS: No, it's not been moved to Wisconsin - it's "Greenby"!
