Perversely you can use the capitalisation in the email address if you wish to, as in ElEhBWrEcScM@your account.plus.com

I've used aliases successfully but in trying to set up a new one today with just 15-20 alphabetic characters, I get an error message saying it's invalid despite the limit being 45 characters. It doesn't say what the problem is and I have waited more than 30 minutes to see if it actually accepted it.

Any ideas?

A warm welcome to the forums.

For the voidance of doubt...

This is being done through the account portal

It is for the Plusnet email brand

You get an actual error message - can you please screenshot it making your domain name

I have just tried to create an alias having a character which is not [A-Z, a-z, 0-9, period, underscore, hyphen] and I do not receive an error message. Removing the invalid character created the alias anyold.long-alias_9997.useraddres

I did expect that the double periods might give rise to issues, but apparently not.

Thanks for the response. Having selected the mailbox that I want to create the alias for, I typed in 13 alpha characters as follows: ElEhBWrEcScM There are no numbers, spaces or special characters. I did not enter anything else: just clicked ADD and up came the error message. I can't see anything wrong to cause the issue.

Oh that’s really helpful and I’m an idiot!! My test address does not have capital letters - they are not permitted. I need to read the guidance note more carefully.

Do you mean that I can't set it up with capitals but if someone uses them to send me a mail it will ignore them?
