Blacklisted by local policy

My wife has recently been having problems sending emails. Messages she sends can take up to four days to be received the other end. Then, this morning, she tried to send an email and received the following error message:

Sending of the message failed>

An error occurred while sending mail. the mail server resonded: <ka**@t******s.plus.com> sender rejected (blacklisted by local policy). Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.

The address is correct and no other settings have been changed.

This is a business email address so it is important we can get it sorted quickly. Any help please?

I have the same problem.

The server responded 550 sender rejected (blacklisted by local policy)

This started this morning.

Same problem and message for me - even to an icloud account or replying to an email someone sent me. Also, happens if I try to send an email from the Plusnet Webmail.

Well, the email in question was sent eventually, but she sent me a test message about 2 hours ago which still has not arrived. In my original post I mentioned that other messages had taken several days to arrive. Are the two issues connected?

It's like many "free" Microsoft products: in general, they do the job, but have their limitations.

The free Plusnet provided email seems to be similar, which is why I have started to move my email elsewhere

Is the receiving address @gmail.com?

If yes, this is not a delivery issues, but one of Gmail getting on and accepting the delivery attempt. Looks like their servers could be massively overloaded (may be).

I have seen emails delivered within 4 minutes, 4 hours, 9 hours or not at all to a FREE Gmail address. Diagnostic investigation of the one not delivered at all identified 30 "go away and come back another time" 'back-off' messages, they offering no clear indication of why.

Users of Gmail need to be hassling Gmail support as to why they are refusing to accept delivery of email sent to their loyal free mail users ... if you can find any support to contact. This is the exact same behaviour we saw a couple years ago.

I have started having this problem. My email seems to have been blacklisted as per the "sender rejected (blacklisted by local policy)" as from this morning. I have been using PlusNet email for some 20 years. I last succesfully sent an email yesterday morning, and slept my PC overnight as usual. This morning, I am unable to send any email to any user that I have tried, whether gmail, outlook or plusnet mail users. I can think of no reason that I might have been blacklisted; my email is sometimes sent to a group of 9 users, but that's been OK for a number of years. Any ideas, as to how I can get out of this?

Is there a status page these days? If so I cannot find it. I'm sure it would cut down on the volume of me too posts.

Users are looking to escalate an issue as it's not immediately obvious whether PN are aware or not. The only way to find out is they happen across a staff post buried in one of these threads.

@jab1 With respect, I can read and it is not the same. A status page is a much more efficient method of conveying, er, status. This, rather than revisiting numerous forum threads, polluted with unhelpful comments, in the hope there's an authoritative update.

Outgoing email is now working again for me with custom domain. Thank you, Plusnet, for getting it back up and running. Much appreciated.

The problem isn't that there's a generic problem with the email servers, but that specific users, with specific IP addresses, have got onto a 3rd-party blacklist that is used by Plusnet.

Things go wrong when that 3rd party list gets updated, and - for whatever reason - users IP addresses get added to it. The solution is either that the 3rd-part list gets 'corrected' or Plusnet have to add manual exceptions.

And we all know that Plusnet is winding down it's email setup, so will not have lots of staff ready to help...
