rather than just deleting the message you should report them to the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC): You can forward phishing emails to report@phishing.gov.uk see https://www.gov.uk/report-suspicious-emails-websites-phishing

@Townman I appreciate I've been round the bock a few times, but unless an email is expected, I tend to check the source. I also use a 'pre-scanning' program which will highlight 'dubious' mail, so it can be removed from the server, and never even touch my system.

The one picture I've seen of this current batch screamed 'fake' at me - 'Dear Valued Customer'!

I agree with you entirely, however few users adopt the screening methods you use. For many (especially where they access many accounts on several devices - as do I) such methods can be cumbersome / a challenge to set up.

Simple BE ALERT behaviours are easy to adopt and can save lots of tears afterwards. Even the most savvy of people can be caught unaware and (as happened to a mate of mine recently) unwittingly give critical information to a malevolent third party. Thankfully for him, his bank was alert and stopped the 2x £4k transactions.

Obviously a scam, albeit a fairly good one.

What goes around comes around.

A few months ago a worried friend asked me to look at a similar message which also looked convincing but on a different ISP. The worrying thing about that one was a phone number was included commencing 09… A premium rate number.

Needless to say we never found out who or what the number was.

SO BEWARE !!!

@kenm Hello there, thank you for reaching out to our Community Forum and for everyone that has added their much valued knowledge and advice.

We have been made aware of a scam whereby users are being sent a security alert message from a ****.plus.com email address, this is not a genuine Plusnet email as all our written interactions come under the form of a ticket and customers would receive an email from Plusnet Support donotreply@plus.net "A question has been opened on your account - Question No XXXX". Once logged into the account users would be redirected to the Member Centre and there can see the full email.

Like many of you have already stated, always check the sender's email address and if in doubt contact our support team on 03301239123, if the email is not genuine is always good practice to report the email as spam and to cyber security, and block the contact.
