Continuing my battle to send emails - I am now on my second Android phone and refuse to have to resort to 'hacking' into developer tools in order to fix an issue that in my opinion is entirely down to Plusnet.
I have had my email and web site for 25+ years, firstly with Freenetname and through all the takeovers and merges up to where we are today with no problems at all with my email.
I have gone through all the 'fixes' and curl whatevers with no changes to my ability to receive emails.
Receiving is no issue, either by plusnet settings or even resorting to original freenetname settings!
What EXACTLY do I need in order to send an email??!!

Would be helpful if you shared the EXACT error message and the results of the diagnostic test. There’s a multitude of reasons why you cannot send and they are not all to do with the email server.

it also helps to know how are you connecting…

Device

Email client

on / off Plusnet’s network

vpn

Default or secondary mailbox

How logging on (email address or account name)

Is this a new mailbox

what have you changed since it worked last

when did it work last (without changes)

Hi Pete,

I really helps to keep issues on a single thread ... I note that the mods locked the one you started previously - https://community.plus.net/t5/Email/Freenetname-email-still-not-sending/m-p/2008896#M49821

That and your initial description here, somewhat suggested that you cannot send to any address at all. FWIW I'm older than you, so age is not really a barrier to understanding this space!

If you can send to ANYWHERE at all, then you probably do not have an issue with the Android client, the email server configuration settings, username or password. The issue is specific to sending to that address ... which potentially points to an issue with the addressee's email service.

Answering the above questions would still be helpful, especially, are you sending from you@freenetname.co.uk or from you@yourdomain.co.uk ? If the latter, do you also get issues sending to @gmail.com users?

For the sending domain @freenetname.co.uk SPF is implemented, so the usual (quasi valid) grounds for rejecting inbound emails DOES NOT APPLY.

I'd be asking the receiving party why they are rejecting the email ... their mailbox might be full, it might have been removed, that error message is very unspecific.

Hi Pete,

There is a raft of issues arising with sending to Microsoft hosted email services. Can you please share the school's domain name (the bit after @).
