Cant send e mails.

E mail has been fine using outlook but few days ago stopped sending, receives OK. error message ....554 avasout-ptp-002 smtp ESMTP server not available (blacklisted by local policy) - cant send email.

Looks like something blocked at Plusnet end. Get the same on my laptop as PC but Ipad seems to be OK.

@Alan1955 Who is your email with - is it <someone>@something.plus.com> or something else? Is it the same address on all three devices?

It is strange that the iPad seems to be OK - to be honest I would have expected that to be the problem device.

Unfortunately, this is slightly out of my 'comfort zone' but I know there are a a couple of people on here who know more than me - if they don't pick this up, I'll give them a nudge.

many thanks. It looks like others have had the same problem and not just Plusnet. I did try phoning Plusnet but got nowhere even though it looks like it needs Plusnet to unblock something.

Found reference to this problem and the suggested fix was to turn off the router for 90 mins so that it would select another (non blocked) IP address. switched it off for 15 mins and now I can send e mails again. It did not clear those in my out box, I had to start again with those. Not sure if this is a permanent fix or it will happen again so still up for some advice as this is all a bit beyond me,

I have been receiving the same message today:

"Server error: '554 avasout-peh-003 smtp ESMTP server not available (blacklisted by local policy)'"

and cannot send emails (but receiving ok).

Did the error message return? I switched my router off for 30 minutes but to no avail.

Can anyone help?

Do you have a Metronet email account or Free-Online email account?
