OK, so I gather from that your ISP (now) is someone else? No matter, as @MisterW says, try putting 'googlemail.com' , rather than 'gmail.com'.

I suspect the icscotland.net visp domain doesn't have SPF or DKIM . If that's the case then I'm afraid you probably need to consider an alternative email provider.

One thing that MIGHT just work is to replace the gmail.com with Google mail.com in the. destination address. They reference the same mailbox but the checks on Google mail addresses can be less stringent

I was never officially with Plusnet, I can;t remember the original email provider but it was taken over by someone then by Madasafish and then Plusnet so a real legacy email.

Should that be 'googlemail.com'

@jab1 thanks , yes it should be, ( I blame the spool chucker )

would also be interested in trying to understand why this has only happened in the last week.

@GlassySue to explain, SPF & DKIM are advisory standards that have been introduced over the last few years in an attempt to reduce the volume of spam email. The problem is that google ( and microsoft hotmail to some extent ) have unlilaterally decided that these standards will be mandatory for email sent to their mail systems. They've been gradually introducing the requirement accross their systems over many months. So I suspect the requiremnt has recently been applied to the gmail address to which you are sending.

There was a fix on one of the forums that send that SPF had been added to icscottland servers which was accepted as a fix but I still can't send to gmail.com addresses i thhink that he wrote about it in 2023. the fix was added by a useer called Townsend.
