ipadOS 18.1, IMAP

App is not downloading email, 9 o/s in webmail. There is a known fault in 18.2 so upgrade is on hold. 18.1 has been stable until now.

I suspect it's an Apple problem again but is anyone else having trouble today?

EDIT! While typing this email has downloaded after the 3 app closures I did 30 minutes ago.

This might be a known issue, but it is not a firm issue essentially associated with these releases.

iOS email like crew email clients can get its profile screwed up. Some times “unloading” and restarting the app is all that is required. Other times the IMAP account needs to be deleted and reinstated.

I’ve seen the app stop receiving before these updates. Personally I’ve not seen such associated with the update. I am on 18.2.1 with 18.3 pending installation.

TM: I read so much from reputable sources to be concerned that 18.2 was problematic, however there was a known fault since corrected.

I never had the problem with the old iOS up to 12.5.

18.2 was pending but I got overtaken by 18.3 which is also giving some a variety of issues. It's also an AI release and while it's camera related (I believe) it's a thin end of an unacceptable wedge.

Good to hear you are still having no problems with 18.2.1: you might soon persuade me that 18.3 is OK. 😀

Is there a massive email therein?

What does the iPhone mail app display at the bottom of the screen?

Are you down loading 'from' "All Inboxes" or just the specific account?

I have seen similar on other clients and usually mitigated the issue by extending the server time out. iOS email does not offer that option in the account settings.

Hi TM,

No massive emails though there were 2 jpegs from a phone, which has never caused a problem in the past. Oddly, one was downloaded just now but not the other: I deleted the downloaded one in the app and both disappeared from webmail.

The app displays the fetching email message: permanently during the fault.

Downloading from the specific account.

As you can see, the notification for your response here was downloaded without problem.

It appears that the OS isn't fixed.
