I was getting the same problems through PN's webmail, so PN's relay server must have been blocked for a while. The issue disappeared a few hours later. It's surprising there weren't more PN users reporting this. There must be very few of us still using PN's email.

A couple of emails I sent out bounced back and I discovered spamhaus reports my static IP as listed in Policy Blocklist (PBL). I don't run my own mail server and I send emails through Plusnet's authenticated SMTP from my home connection. I had sent the failed emails from Thunderbird, so it can't get much more mainstream than that. Oh, Plusnet's webmail failed as well.

Am I right thinking it's not really my IP that is the problem, especially as PBL typically contains all customers' IPs who haven't opted out? That leaves us with Plusnet's own IP having been blocked. Do we just wait until the block is lifted? I don't see what else I can do.

If you're not running your own mail server your IP should be irrelevant. It's the IP of the PN relay you would need to check in Spamhaus.

@glocal

Given that you state that you are not running your own mail server, it is odd that YOUR IP address is being mentioned in the bounce message. I take it that your IP address is being cited here?

You are correct that all end user IP address ranges are prohibited from sending email direct: if users are running their own in-bound email servers, then they must send via smart-relay using Plusnet's SMTP server.

That does not apply here, so something else must be amiss.

For the moment, to simplify the issue, I would focus on attempting to send the email using webmail - that eliminates everything at your end.

Are you able to post a redacted non-delivery report here please?
