Trying to configure EM Client using imap.

Diagnostics show a green successful tick for both imap & smtp when using my Plusnet default email account using USER as the login name, an email account I don't use.

However I'm unable to log in using USER+name getting only a green tick for smtp, I know the password is OK for this account as I can log in OK using webmail (at least sometimes). 😉

It seems as if EM client is unable to cope with the + being part of the USER log in.

Hope this makes sense.

Hi Fred,

Does the EM client attempt configure the server names it self?

It would seem odd that you can access relay.plus.net with USER+name (remember that user names are all lower case) but not imap.plus.net

You could try name@user.plus.net as the logon ID.

To recap...

Inbound server
- imap.plus.net
- Port 993
- Encryption TLS/SSL
Outbound server
- relay.plus.net
- Port 587
- Encryption STARTTLS
- Authentication required - same as inbound

You could try name@user.plus.com as the logon ID.

I'll continue try log in combinations and report back if I have any success.
