Totalise emails Windows Live Mail Can't send

Hello All,

I have had a totalise email account from many many years and I use Windows Live Mail on my pc to access.

For the past couple of weeks I have not been able to send any emails via this account. Also I cannot log in to the webmail online portal. Any help with which settings I should be using will be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid I went in there and tinkered with the settings and now I can't remember what they should be. The receiving emails works fine.

Just in case it helps, this is the error message from trying to send an email:

The message could not be sent. The setting for your outgoing email [SMTP] server might need to be configured. To find the server settings for 'syedab@totalise.co.uk', please contact your email service provider.

Subject 'test'
Server Error: 550
Server Response: 550 <syedab@totalise.co.uk> recipient rejected - relay denied
Server: 'mail.totalise.co.uk'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC79
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No

Try using the the secure settings of:

Port: 465

Authentication: Normal Password (Or equivalent in Live Mail)

Connection Security: SSL/TLS

Server: relay.plus.net

To my knowledge PN is still allowing insecure on port 25, though they may have tightened up on it, and there is a global recommendation to drop insecure email on port 25.

If I make changes to these settings my emails will be more secure?

Is it just for sending emails or receiving as well?
