I have bought new laptop with Windows 11 but as Microsoft no longer allow Outlook to connect to Plusnet Webmail email accounts you have to use Windows mail. But this is very reluctant and slow to synchronise. Does anyone have any fixes for this? It's the same for two separate family plusnet email accounts I have but work related email that comes via Microsoft Exchange and Office 365 works fine.

@MartinGC Welcome to the Community forums.

What do you mean by Microsoft no longer allow Outlook to connect to Plusnet Webmail?

Which version of Outlook are you using? What precisely are you trying to set up?

Plusnet webmail is normally accessed from a web browser, not Outlook or Win 11.

Outlook is an email Client and is used instead of Plusnet webmail.

The following message is on the Microsoft Support webpage:

Microsoft will be removing the ability to add new accounts to Outlook on the web using the Connected accounts feature on September 15, 2018 and will stop syncing existing accounts on October 30, 2018.

Here are more details :

You won’t be able to connect new accounts after September 15, 2018.

Accounts that were connected before September 15th will continue to sync as usual until October 30, 2018.

On October 30th, all connected accounts will stop syncing email.

On November 15th, the Connected accounts option (Settings > Mail > Accounts) will be removed from Outlook on the web .

Email that has already synced will continue to appear in your inbox unless you remove it manually.

The version of Outlook I was trying to use is that which comes with the Microsoft 365 package. Apols for poor terminology, I appreciate Webmail is an email client. As I can no longer link my Plusnet email account to Outlook I am trying to use Mail for Windows and it is this application that is having problems synchronising

This page appears to be where that information comes from and it only applies to Outlook on the web.

If you read further under to continue seeing email from other accounts: you will see that it states

Connect your other account to Outlook for Windows or Outlook for Mac (see Add an email account to Outlook).

Outlook for Windows is the same Outlook as that in Microsoft 365.

eta: use advanced setup to add your Plusnet email account.

It helps to clearly understand the product Microsoft portfolio / names. "Outlook" unqualified refers to...

Outlook.com - an email (exchange) SERVER (provides email / calendar / contacts)

Outlook - a web based client which principally accesses an outlook.com email sever and optionally other email services

Outlook Windows 10/11 email application (ships with the OS) - a substantially stripped down email client (not really worth bothering with)

Outlook365 / 2016 / 2019 - proper PC / MAC / Phone based all-singing all-dancing email client

Your postings have I think inferred all four of these ... as being one and the same.

Great that you have a working solution.
