21% loss of avatar. Why?

Plusnet,

It's been recently determined that by switching to round avatars, we've lost 21% of our visible avatars. Thats quite a drastic loss.

How is this going to be rectified?

The same way Google have?

On a serious tip, there are no immediate plans to 'rectify' the issue. Debate about the which the Community prefer is welcomed (square, circle, some other shape?), however we've nothing in motion to change what we currently have.

For what it's worth, I've grown quite fond of the circular avatars.

I've found a round design for my avatar (although it is technically square but the square bits aren't showing)

@7up: Now I have a round one, how much of that (as a percentage) would I loose if we go back to square ones (marks will be deducted if full working out is not shown).
