MODIFY Post not available Sunday 17th November 2013 early. New posts OK ?

Tried to modify a previous post ( from Friday ) to add a photo, there is no MODIFY Option, only Quote...
Any of my posts, I can quote, and start a new thread !!
Spoke to Plusnet Tech Team, there is a problem on the forums.
One of their fantastic Techs couldn't MODIFY either...
When the digicare team arrive they will sort out the problem

And of course, the problem would show just after I've been managing my Browsers Caches !!
I tried 3 browsers before I rang Tech on
0800 432 0200

UPDATE:
Strangely enough, I can MODIFY this post !!
Perhaps it's older posts ( pre problem ) that cannot be modified, at the moment

There is no problem with the forums, a 10 hour window to modify posts exists.

Is that an actual feature ?
I have always been able to modify posts, mainly due to spelling, for much longer than 10 hours later.
Sometimes days later...
I have seen others do this on a regular basis.

Example, my own spelling amendment ...

If such a restriction were in place, that would inevitably lead to even more Bumping, as amendments could not be made to the previous post.
It would be a backwards, and unwelcome step in my view.

But surely if you need to modify a 1 year old post, you'd want the people involved in that thread to be notified that there had been an amendment ?
By just editing a post, the thread stays as a one year old post with any changes unread.

Usually just a minor spelling correction, but noticed, and relevant when that post is quoted in the future (ie present day)
Which is when I notice the original spelling...

If you need to update a thread with legitimate information that is not bumping.
Bumping is not providing anything new to a discussion but with to get your thread back to the top of the unread pile by putting something not relevant in it.

dvorak, from the number of views on that topic and the comments in the thread complaining that that one had been locked, there was a lot of interest in that thread, it is just that people chose to follow PlusComUKs progress rather than post on it.

The posters could just as easily edited the previous post to add the new information and it's not in Chit Chat so the stricter rule should apply!

Would you really have read a post that was 6 Screen pages long, with similar but updated info ?
How would you, or anyone else for that matter, know that the thread had been updated ?

i viewed that thread for every post that was made, though i had no interest in it.
each view ups the count, you can't rely on a view count as a measure of interest.

If we are supposed to edit the previous post when we are adding a substantial amount of new information (and not just making small additions or corrections) please could you tell me where the "Mark post unread for all users" button is located? Without that people are very likely not to see the additional information.
