Blocking/Ignore users

Is it possible to block / ignore certain users, as on other Forums ?

Shame, it means I quite often unsubscribe from a thread because I cannot do this, because another user indirectly annoys me.
Ignore them others may say, but once seen ........

When the last revamp of this forum was announced, I put forward the suggestion to add a tick-box in the "Recent Unread Topics" screen to be able to 'hide' threads that I will never be interested in reading.
It would have then been simple to ignore threads like "Don't Feed the ducks", "Big Brother", or "Not happy I want my MAC - NOW !!!"
or any thread started by members such as "Christmas", "Zedingrove", or "okrzynska"/"sprite".
Unfortunately my suggestion was ignored, so I like everyone else have to unnecessarily wade through the same old uninteresting drivel, day after day, after hitting "UNREAD POSTS".

You should think yourself lucky - think about the poor old Mods who can't even ignore the drivel as that is usually where the problems come

I sympathise with you 'Oldjim', you would have thought that somebody would have come up with an automated moderator filter program, that could use a little artificial intelligence to highlight forum posts which may require human consideration, and allow you to ignore everything else (unless you happen to be interested in Ducks !).

I would also like to see the addition of a members 'whitelist', where you can add members names so that you get an email notification if anyone on that list STARTS a new thread.
There are a lot of interesting characters that frequent this forum, who I am always ready to read what they have to say or help - such as 'MidnightCaller", "Bob Pullen", or even the somewhat controversial "WildRose".

With all suggestions such as this you need to look for something that meets the requirements here and then post with a link to the mod asking that it be considered for adding to these forums.

To make it a bit clear.
The Mods do not have the necessary permissions to make any such changes. This would have to be actioned by the staff with the necessary admin rights and I don't know who they are
