BOTs harvesting profile information?

I've just noticed in the list Who's Online List a number of Guests who are shown as "Viewing xxx's profile.". Because of the number of them I think these are BOTs.
Is there a good reason to allow this or should guests be barred from viewing profiles?

I think that was in relation to moderators and Plusnet staff who have extra forums not visible to us. But I wouldn't expect to see that for Guest!

No guest activity should be invisible to any registered user.
