Number of replies to posts

Just this morning on the forums I have noticed that the number of replies to a post column appears to be broken - it is blank.

I suspect this is another Lithium 'enhancement' that they haven't told anyone about, as the same issue is on the TalkTalk forum.

@jaread83 - is it just me, or can you see it too?

It's part of the Lithium Advent calendar - spot today's change?

Given recent 'challenges' with FF57 I've also checked with Chrome and Edge with the same result

So if everything works ok then why not just leave it alone instead of making constant adjustments ?

Or have I misunderstood something ?

This community forum still has more problems for me than ALL the other websites I visit combined !

It's now 20 months since this forum was ruined, and barely anything that I've reported has been fixed.

I want to see Lithium doing updates hourly, to get as many fixes rolled out as possible.

"if it ain`t broke..... don`t fix it!".... that`s why I`m still on Win 7 Pro... it works... ! ( for me ).

unfortunately, once a company has built something that works.... they still have to pay the guys to sit around all day doing nowt, until the next thing comes along that needs building..... to counteract this, ( cos they don`t want to lose them, and more importantly, they don`t want to pay them for doing nowt)... they set that workforce a task to "improve" the original....

it matters not, in what way,.... just so long as they ain`t sitting there, drinking coffee and reading the daily mail ....

@shutter I understand what you say there - and agree, but 'improvements' that bork the currently working environment shouldn't happen.

In the days, many years ago when I was involved in computer program design, all changes were tested to destruction on the development server before release to the production system. Mind you, I am talking system critical here, it was in specialist steel production facility.

I've noticed that instead of the number of replies, it now displays 'reply' for a single reply, and 'replies' for more than one (haven't found out yet what 'unreplied to' threads merit, mainly because I can't be bottomed. )

Hope this is a temporary glitch and not someone at Lithium thinking it was a jolly good idea!

The replies entry is broken on staging too and has been reported there. I expect it will return when Jack returns.

Yesterday the text "Replies" was there but no count? Today just blank space - is Lithium 'twiddling' with the live system?

EDIT: Same on staging

Is that with Firefox (which updated to 57.0.2 yesterday)? I only have Edge and Internet Explorer on this computer and those still show the reply or replies text without a value. Strangely the browsers know whether singular or plural text should be shown despite not being able to display the values.

@spraxyt ~~I get the same issue on Palemoon 27.6.1, which has been on my machine since 20/11/17 - which predates the start of this problem.~~

I'm getting the same display with Firefox (57.0.2) and Edge. On both I see "Replies" but no count.

57.0.2 - updated in the hope that it fixed a number issues, but only 1 'fix' marked.

Lithium updated the platform last week and it seems to have messed up the reply counter on the board view. I have sent a message to Lithium to get this fixed ASAP as that is clearly not how it should work.

I have received a response from Lithium. The bug has been acknowledged and a fix will be issued when a solution has been found by their devs. I will update this post when I get more information.

Oddly enough there is no problem seen with this on an iPhone ... is this a responsive CSS issue?

Its not the responsive CSS as I checked the markup. The stuff you see on mobile is hidden away behind a media query in the CSS and will only display on small screens

And here is the area where this is shown to desktop users (note that the only thing here is the word 'replies'):

There used to be a container that held the number but this has gone now for some reason.
