Router loses sync and flashes every time it rains customer service says line is fine.

@SenT Is your (presumably FTTC) connection overhead or underground? What router are you using? I doubt it is currently happening, which is why nothing is being flagged to support.

You have probably got and intermittently faulty joint in the copper cable between the home and the green cabinet. You need to emphasise that the fault is intermittent.

Are you still FTTC or have you moved to SoGEA? If FTTC, use a telephone handset to listen for noise on the line.

Thank you. I reported it and they tested the line but of course it was fine at that time so nothing has been done so far. I am afraid I don't understand the acronyms but I have no land line.

Do I read that as you phoned customer support during office hours after the event ?

If so, next time try using the Report your problem by text message service WHILE the problem is occurring.

The text service runs an automated line checking bot, which should detect issues if it is so bad that you are losing sync.

The process will text you back to advise what it's found, and you can prompt further actions by returning keywords by text.

All standard product labels precisely identifying the service one is using...

FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet [copper to the premises]) - VDSL broadband + PTSN telephone service (if you have this, you can check the line for noise which is a fair indicator of a line fault)
SoGEA (Single order Generic Ethernet Access) - VDSL broadband only (essentially the same as FTTC without the traditional PTSN voice service)
FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) - aka Full Fibre (which there is a fair indication you do not have)

Being clear about the service being used, aids in offering the correct advice. Anything you might need to find out more about is readily available via Google searches.

Note "land line" is becoming something of a misnomer: it has historically meant a fixed line telephone service delivered over a copper wire circuit, from the local exchange to the premises ... over which broadband has been super-imposed. Even where a voice service was not used / required, FTTC required there to be a voice service on the "land line". SoGEA delivers FTTC over the same (local) copper circuit with no need of the voice service. That is why FTTC and SoGEA can be impacted by wet conditions.

With the demise of PTSN that paradigm is gone; voice services delivered to a fixed home telephony device will now be delivered via VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), that is the voice service is now super-imposed over the broadband service, which could be SoGEA or FTTP. Plusnet will not be offering VoIP services.
