That is all subject to the nature of the new contract. If the new contract is SoGEA in place of FTTC or change of an existing FTTP service, they are a simple product change and will probably go as you described.

If it is the supply of a new FTYP installation, the contract will change on activation.

We would be renewing the broadband only as we no longer use a phone service. I have been looking at Zen internet @ £31 per month for 24 months as opposed to Plusnet starting at £21.50 until March, then £25.50 and finally £28.50. Also Plusnet 18 month monthly price £26.99 and from 31 Mar 2027 £30.99. Finally on 12 month Total monthly price £27.99 and from 31 Mar 2027 £31.99 so for 4 months paying the higher rate and having the option to switch earlier. It is only 0.50p more than I am currently paying.

Zen Internet does seem to have good reviews and like Plusnet is highly recommended by Which. A bit of browsing during the day, but at night we stream movies etc.

The added detail changes the advice, which was offered in the context of a new contract with Plusnet.

If you leave early going with a different supplier, the new contract will commence on their terms and you will face ETCs from Plusnet.

Going from FTTC to broadband only could be a simple change to SoGEA or could be a FTTP installation depending on the status of your exchange. In that case, with any supplier the. Ew contract will commence when the FTTP service is commissioned.
