3 months after receiving my "30 days" email from Plusnet about transferring to EE, I finally got a couple of emails today, stating that the transfer will take place on 20th July. I'm currently FTTC, but I'm on a FTTP priority exchange so was expecting to be forced into having FTTP installed. This was also confirmed by phone.

However, my EE service will be Fibre 67 Core which is EE's FTTC service. When I looked this up on EE's website, it states "If you choose a part fibre deal with EE Broadband, we’ll upgrade you to full fibre for free when it arrives in your area. That means you get twice the speed, at no extra cost. We’ll contact you when our fastest full fibre arrives and let you know how to upgrade."

Full fibre is definitely available in my area, so I would have thought that they would have taken the opportunity to ⚰️2 🐦's with 1 stone* & do both at the same time?

On the phone side of things, I was dubious when the Plusnet help page said that users will be automatically set up with EE's unlimited minutes call package, as I'm currently not on any package. I pay per call. But today's email confirmed that I will be on Call Pack Unlimited.

*I wasn't allowed to use a certain word in that idiom.

I guess that was the ideal but given we are half way through 2026 getting users onto sogea and digital voice is quicker than FTTP install requiring OR visits.

Might be why they havent taken this opportunity to migrate you straight to fttp even though in a priority area?

I suspect this is due to Openreach temporarily relaxing the rules that would normally trigger an FTTP install in these circumstances. A move to a new isp in an fibre priority area is the usual trigger here.
Openreach are doing this to expedite moving people off PSTN.

The checker says "Single dwelling unit residential OH feed with no anticipated issues". It must be the easiest installation possible. The telegraph pole is right outside my property. It's directly in line with the part of the house where I want it installed. From the top of the house, straight down the wall & into the living room.

I'm not too concerned about it, just surprised. The speed I'm on now is good enough for my current needs. It would have been good to have got it out of the way now, rather than later. Although It does now give me more time to get the house tidied & clear some space for the installation. 😆

A sensible approach imho.
