Thanks for the information.

As stated FTTC (on SOGEA) should be available. I suspect both PN and EE systems try to push you to Full Fibre if they can.

You could phone the PlusNet Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 to see what they say.

Is there any reason you don't want Full Fibre? While it's short term hassle getting the install done it's a more reliable product. Full Fibre 74 would more or less match what you're on now and make it easier to switch in the future if you so wish.

Do you use PN email?

Transfer to EE FTTC

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I’m getting confused (old age creeping up on me). I’m currently on Plusnet’s FTTC broadband (Unlimited Fibre Extra inc. Line rental). I want to keep my landline telephone number and feel the easiest way ahead is to transfer to EE rather than go down the PN SOGEA plus VOIP route. I’m also only half way through a contract. I want to stay with FTTC broadband but when I login using my unique code on the EE site, it’s only offers full fibre FTTP broadband deals. Is there any way I can simply get a like for like service from EE? Could plusnet customer services help set this up if I give them a ring?

Cheers

John

Could you post a screen image (after hiding your details) from the following. Please include the narrative below the results window.

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

It could be you're on a Fibre Priority Exchange where no new FTTC orders will be accepted if FTTP is available.

Note that EE would be a SOGEA line with a digital voice service (VOIP).

if you're in a 'Fibre priority' area, then No, only FTTP can be ordered.

Check the BT Wholesale availability checker

I received an email from Plusnet today, saying that if I want to keep my landline they will transfer me over to EE if I don't tell them otherwise in 30 days. They say that the speed, phone number, price, & contract length will stay the same. So even though I'm in a FTTP area now, I assume that I will continue with FTTC.

The EE router will have a phone socket to plug my landline into.

Out of interest, I also looked on the EE website. As a new customer, they only supply broadband as FTTP for my postcode, but I assume that as I'm being transferred by Plusnet, that won't be the case.

What's a "unique code"?

but will it work ?

There seems to be anecdotal evidence that EE support struggle to get it working, give up and send a separate adapter or wireless handsets

Full Fibre shows up as WBC FTTP.

I know I'm on a FTTP Priority Exchange, but there was no mention of having to go FTTP in the Plusnet email.

I notice it says:-

Although VDSL FTTC and SOGEA is showing as currently not available on this cabinet, it may still be possible to place an order for VDSL (FTTC/SOGEA) speed profile of 40/10. Orders will be validated on an individual basis.
