Hi.

I have set up a Ubiquiti Dream Router (DR) on my daughters Plusnet system. Currently, the DR has as its WAN feed, one of the routed ports from the Plusnet HUB 2 Router, effectively doing a double NAT.

Whilst this works, it is not ideal and I wish to configure the Hub 2 as a Bridge. I am assuming that I configure the DR Internet settings to send the PPPoE username@plusdsl.net with account password which is how I have done the Hub 2 at my own house the crucial difference being that at my house, the supply is a proper full fibre, and and my daughters it is Fibre (SoGEA) (i.e. delivered over copper twisted pairs.

I would be grateful for advice on this.

Many thanks

Mike.

Yes with the Hub two in bridge mode it becomes a modem only device which in basic terms the ONT is.

So yes configure your router the same way, any Hub LAN port to the router WAN port.

EDIT: for your home you would connect the router directly to the ONT.

Just to clarify, at my home the Ubiquiti gateway/router WAN port is connected to the Hub 2 in Modem / Bridge mode, and the Hub 2 is connected to the ONT.

No , in your case , you connect the Ubiquiti WAN port directly to the ONT. The Ubiquiit WAn should be configured for PPPoE.

At you daughters, you set the Hub 2 in bridge mode, then connect the Ubuiquiti WAN , again configured for PPPoE to a LAN port on the Hub 2.

Not sure I really deserve the 'fix' .

@Dan_the_Van said basically the same back at post 2.

Maybe one of the mods could adjust the fix

Depending on when you contracted to plusnet, you maybe required to return it if you terminate your contract.

It's also handy for a spare or fault testing
