I wouldn't worry about a 5 second 'blip' - especially on an ADSL line.

ADSL2+ disconnect

After 62 days rock solid performance, last night (September 12/13) the connection dropped:-

Time: 00:57:04

Error messages:-

pppd: No response to 3 echo requests

pppd: Serial link appears to be disconnected

The log then shows connection down.

Time: 00:57:09

Connection up.

This is a new one on me but it looks like an external error either exchange or PN.

Anyone else have a similar problem? Was it at PN's end?

Given the timestamp, I would imagine that this is simply something as innocent as Openreach exchange DLM doing a quick re-sync, after nudging a slight change in the line's DSL power level to maintain what is probably a very good SNR margin (assumed from the previous 62 day up time), to compensate for the changing weather conditions as we move in to autumn.

@Mardler could check that by putting in the landline phone number in to https://status.zen.co.uk/broadband/

and seeing if there were any co-incident Openreach maintenance works under the sections -
