Hello

For the past couple of weeks, certain websites will not load, or take a very long time to load on my desktop PC. 1 of the websites that I am ramming more problems with is Facebook but also sites like GB news and others take a long time to load. Meanwhile, other websites, such as BBC news, Sky News and X load fine.

I raised a call, with plus net last weekend as they could detect an issue on the network, but not in my property. Openreach have since closed the call (and plus net) but the issue still remains. My desktop is connected to the router with a cable. I have tried temporarily disabling my antivirus (AVG free). I have even removed a free VPN extension from Google Chrome but I am still having issues.

My desktop is running Windows 10 (not ready to upgrade to 11, I am disabled and use speech recognition software and just let say I am not impressed with its compatibility on Windows 11, on a PC in the office).

I have a laptop (which I only use for watching Sky News while working from home and it goes on holiday with me). The laptop has Windows 11 and I have just tried it, it loaded GB news no bother but did require 2 attempts to load Facebook.

I am not sure where to go from here. Can anybody advise please?

Thanks

To eliminate the possibility that this is an issue with the sites you are accessing (as seems likely) you could try this site to profile the payload of the problematic sites - Free Website Speed Test | DebugBear

Some more advice please? I have a desktop PC, laptop, mobile phone and iPad. My desktop PC has a wired connection to my router, while all other devices are wireless.

Now I have not done exhaustive tests but I can say the problem is less apparent on the wireless devices (I'm not quite ready to say it's non-existent but certainly it could be). You should be aware that I am physically disabled and operate my PC with speech recognition software. That's why other devices are fine for browsing the net but anything that requires typing is done on my desktop.

My desktop has AVG free and I have tried disabling it but no improvement. I have done a deep scan but no problems were found.

If the problem, with certain websites like Facebook, is restricted to my desktop, does anyone have any suggestions what I should investigate next?

Thanks
