Thanks for your reply. I’ve attached photos of the master socket and router back as requested. I’ve also included screen shots of the xdsl stats page and two pages of speed test history. Clearly I can’t attest to any changes at the exchange or street box, but nothing has changed internally.

Reading the replies, I would query why the line is banded at 40mb, when the Speedtest results show I have previously achieved higher sync speeds. (The Speedtest results are via a iPhone 14 pro over wireless and generally return a figure 10% below the actual sync rate at the router). Having recorded 39/40mb Speedtest results last year, this evidences a true sync speed nearer 44mb.

The xdsl page today shows 34999kb and any attempt to restart the router reverts to this exact same sync speed, so this suggests to me it is being actively managed somewhere to that exact rate.

Your current DLM profile is "0.128M-40M Downstream, Retransmission Low - 0.128M-20M Upstream, Error Protection Off" so it's unlikely to be solely DLM at fault as your sync speed would be closer to 40Mbps.

How do you have things setup at the moment?

Hi. Set up is a 3rd party router (Billion BIPAC 8800NL R2) which has been in place for many years. So no physical changes. Previous to contract renewal I was syncing at 44mb (measured at the router interface xdsl stats page), post renewal for some reason this seemed to be limited to 40mb as per your reply. Since the recent power cuts the sync is now at 34999kb and despite restarts, it always syncs at this speed, whilst attainable rate varies between 42-44mb. So in summary, nothing has changed in the set up, which has been the same for more than 2 years. I had a similar problem about a year ago and a line reset immediately brought the sync speed back to 44mb.

Hi, something must have changed somewhere shown below;

In your house - You said there are no changes.

Eternally with the network - Coincidence by possible.

DLM - I am unsure of the full working but I presume it will manage the sync rate with settings other than the speed profile(banding) like SNR perhaps after the reboot, it thinks the lower sync rate is better.

As your sync rate is lower than the minimum of 36.2Mbps for either of these issues we could do with raising a fault. First, to be sure of no internal issues could you send some pics of the back of the router and phone socket please?

@Pnnoakes If you are restarting the router and the sync speed is always the same that confirms that the line is banded, there have been cases similar to yours in the past because one the diagnostic tools that Plusnet use does not actually show the current profile but one that is a couple of weeks out of date.

@jab1 I was just pointing out that the line is being restricted by banding despite Plusnet saying it isn't. If there is a line noise problem that needs to be looked at first.

Initial line check has found no fault. I’ll have to wait now till tomorrow for the advisor call to take this further. Thanks everyone for assistance so far.

The autobot doesn't pick all faults up, but if there is noise on the line, there is definitely a fault - don't let them tell you otherwise.
