Hi,

There was a lightning storm earlier today, and it's put my broadband out. The landline is working fine.

I have a Plusnet Hub One. It's an ASDL connection. I have FIbre-To-The-Cabinet, and then copper to the home.

The router starts up solid green, then flashing green, then solid blue for about ten seconds, then a more intense blue for about five seconds, then flashing orange, then settles on solid orange with a flashing red 'b'.

I spoke to Plusnet and their tests showed things working fine on the line, and they are sending out a new router, thinking the lightning frazzled something in the Hub One. Something does smell like it might be burnt. Hopefully, that will be it.

However, I am trying to get ahead of that not fixing it, just in case. I have tried using a few different old routers, of mine (BT) and a neighbour's (BT, Plusnet, Sky), and none are able to connect to broadband. Is this to be expected, or could it indicate a problem somewhere else? I only have a single, master socket. I've plugged things into the 'test' bit, still to no avail.

Is there anything else I can try? Or, if it turns out the new router isn't enough, any idea where the problem might be?

Thanks!

@Hushinton It does sound a little like the Hub has been damaged. As to the routers you have tried - I doubt the SKY one would work on a PN connection - they are locked to that network and, IIRC, use a different connection protocol. Did you change the login details to yours on the others?

I had tried my login details to no avail, and so assumed it was something else. Your response prompted me to try some different passwords, just in case, and I noticed I'd typed the login wrong! Got a BT Homehub 5 working.

Thanks for your help : )
