A flashing amber light is not a WiFi dropping out - it is a loss of sync - an entirely different problem.

Flashing amber light means that the router cannot sync with the exchange (if ADSL) or with the cabinet (if FTTC).

An engineer might indeed have been out to fix one fault which causes this symptom, but that can be no assurance that there are not other faults giving rise to the same symptom. Your circuit probably has a dozen or so joints in it - anyone being a bit iffy could give rise to this symptom.

The WiFi signal is constantly dropping again with the router flashing amber for several minutes at a time. I say again as this happened before and an engineer found a fault on the line and it was fixed . Incredibly annoying that the same seems to be happening again? Have tried all the other troubleshooting advice.

@Cat3

First thing to check: Is your phoneline clear? Dial 17070 (preferably from a corded phone), select option 2. Once your phone number is confirmed, there should be silence on the line except for the regular 'Quiet Line Test' message - any other noise, report a PHONE problem via: https://www.plus.net/help/report-a-problem/phone/

If the phone test passes, report a broadband problem via: https://www.plus.net/help/report-a-problem/broadband/

Let us know the result - if the tests come back as clear but you still have a problem, we need to investigate further.
