So I have two extenders that are av600 and they are ganging up and sharing the same name after reset and pairing. They are not taking on the plus net router name. Can I change the plus net name and password to the av600 and have one WiFi network?

Hi,

I have a couple of TP Link Internet over power WiFi repeaters that have not taken the name of my new plus net router so the house has two separate WiFi names and password. Its really annoying as phones don't switch over very well depending where you are in the house.

How can I change the names of the TP Link extenders? Or do I need to change the plus net router to the extenders name and password to solve it.

I hope the above makes sense.

Thanks in advance

Bryce

Hi,

the IP Address would have been allocated by the router.

Which app have you installed tpPLC ?

On the left the is an option to add a new device, does this work? You'll need the password of the powerline plug

It is recommended to use a wired connection

This might help you

Yes, you can do that if required, as previously mentioned logon to each device using a browser like firefox or google chrome.

Come back if you get stuck

Edit if you have a Hub Two look at My Devices on the home page for the IP Address of each one

Have you used them with the same SSID as the hub successfully before?

If both SSIDs are registered to a device and they don’t automatically switch when you move from the range of one to the other I’m slightly sceptical that they will swap even with the same SSID. The two wireless networks are not meshed and I can imagine it causing more problems than it resolves.

The two wireless networks are not meshed and I can imagine it causing more problems than it resolves.

This depends on the proximity of the wireless stations to each other, if the signal is weak then the wifi device should pick up the strongest signal.

I've had mixed results cloning or having a second SSID with a wireless extender, the conclusion I came to was to have one SSID.

Where smart devices are used it would be essential to have one SSID as it would result the device having to be reconfigured every time it is moved if it (smart device) only supports one wireless network name.
