WPS light constantly flashing on router

I understand that it is possible to disable this function to stop the light constantly flashing.
Can someone please tell me how to do this?

Which router are you using?
I've never seen a WPS light do you mean the wifi light, if so you can't turn that off without disabling wifi.
But with the TG582n you can turn all light off using a few telnet commands.

This command does not survive a reboot, need to re-issue the command each time the router is restarted.

Router is SAGECOM Router 2704N PLUSNET
There is no problem with the WiFi light, there is a separate WPS light, The Plusnet Booklet says the WPS is either flashing if it is searching for a device to connect to
or it is off. There is no info on how to turn it off

I had the same problem. Going into 'Advanced Settings' and unticking 'WPS enabled' stopped the WPS light flashing.

Yes, my WPS light started flashing about a month after I joined PN. I tried to turn off WPS by pressing the button on the side of the router, but that failed to work, so I did exactly what you did, PilgrimMike.

I've done it, phoned them and there is a wifi button on the side of my router, pressed that and it worked,

If it comes back and you want to fully disable the function follow old jim's link then select your router followed by 'how do I log in to my router'. Here you will find that you can select 'advanced options'.

Thanks baldrick, now found the link you said and will keep that in mind, but since phoning Plusnet and solving that problem another has developed, I now can't get Wi Fi connection on my smart phone, think thats all got to be 'set-up' again, think I might have to wait till son comes weekend, not to vital, just annoying,

Rather sounds as though you switched the wifi off.

I don't know these routers very well ... but it would not surprise me if the flashing Wi-Fi light is an indication that it is in use!

You could be right, but if so, the computer internet works alright but my wireless printer does not seem to work and also I have a wireless mouse and that is going 'funny' but the wireless keyboard is alright,

Hi,

Wireless mouse & keyboard are completely different to wifi. They are blue-tooth connected direct to you printer. Either the battery is on the way put or something (usually a big metal or electrical object) is interfering with the signal. A friend of mine recent changed their office table ... computer box underneath, mouse and keyboard on top ... and could not understand why on the metal table they did not work, but did on their lap!

WiFi routers are usually set to automatically choose the 'best' wireless channel. In this mode they constantly review the wifi channel usage and will dynamically switch if there is a 'better' one. I have seen printers in such an environment 'drop off' the network because they do not follow the channel change. I have found that setting the router to a fixed wifi channel negates that problem. Choose 1, 6 or 11.

Just to let you know, panic over, my son came and I had the Wi Fi turned off, so now all is working again, thanks for all your help.
