Siting my router under the stairs

We're getting about half our wireless devices connecting fine, the rest don't connect. In the interests of concealing the cabling, I had the BT engineer install the fibre box in the cupboard under the stairs, and I have connected our 2704n router to that. I read somewhere that under the stairs is a bad place to locate your router; is this the case? And how about the fibre box?

If you want to use wireless, you will place your router in a central location unobstructed by walls, stairs etc.

Ideally it should be placed fairly high on the wall.

You should put the BT connection within a few yards of the router.

Have you tried sitting near the router with those devices that don't connect wirelessly?

It would cost you an arm and a leg.

Run a telephone style cable to your router, this should be reasonably short, if possible.

Other possibilities exist if the distance is large.
