Community Site maintenance - Wednesday 7th November

Afternoon all,
Heads up that there'll be some maintenance early Wednesday morning that may affect access to the Community Site for a couple of hours. Also worth keeping an eye out afterwards to ensure it's not caused anything unexpected ...

What does it affect?
Access to the Community Site and other Sheffield-hosted services. This includes, but is not limited to, our internal systems, customer email collection, customer hosted websites, access to Webmail and access to our main website.

What does the work involve?
We're moving parts of our Community Site and email platform to a new data centre. We'll also be switching the 'load balancer' we're using to manage access to the services we host in Sheffield.
Am I likely to notice the work?
Possibly, the Community Site may be slow to access whilst parts if the platform are out of service. When we switch to the secondary load balancer there may be a blip in connectivity to some of the services we host in Sheffield).
Is there anything else I need to know?
The load balancer maintenance is part of the ongoing work to resolve some of the recent problems that have affected our email service.

Well funnily enough, I've posted similar over on the Community Site & Forums Board.
Now,the big question is why? What's changed so far?
