@keithshafto

"It seems that page is displayed when you connect to the web using your router, even my neigbours!

So I turned off the wifi on my phone and turned on 5G Mobile data and bingo, straight in."

That's weird...

The trouble with that is, when I loaded the page without trouble on my mobile phone, I wasn't using phone network data. When at home my phone's data connection is turned off and everything (including phone calls) goes by Wi-Fi through the Plusnet router. Using phone network data would, of course, have changed the IP address you were using to access the site.

I just checked out another (ongoing) issue with my PC that might have been the cause - it's clock is significantly wrong. But after manually correcting the clock I still can't access the page on my PC.

In my case my money is still on the out of date PC browser. I do, now and then, get ticked off by various sites over this.

Here's a thing, it's always up just returning a fake message "Access is temporarily restricted."

It displays an American support phone number and tells me there is a robot on the same network, this being 31.185.238.201 which is in fact not my IP (192.168.1.232.) but a Plusnet IP. (Source Whois.)

Have a look at the coding. I believe this is a scam to get rid of you as the email conversations I have been having with 'Customer service' must be with 5 year olds as they are so daft!

Now this is interesting!

Access is temporarily restricted

Why? Something about the behaviour of the browser has caught our attention.

There are various possible explanations for this:
- Please check your network and try accessing the site in 24 hours. If the message persists, please call 972-348-0885 for support.
- You are browsing and clicking at a speed much faster than expected of a human being.
- Something is preventing JavaScript from working on your computer.
- There is a robot on the same network (IP <My IP>) as you.

Need help?
I see a spinner/checker then it goes through to the registration page.

So maybe just some ips are causing it to happen?

That is your (external) IP address! "192.168.1.232" is simply the IP of whatever device you are using on your internal network - inside your home. It's from the Private Network specific IP range - allocated via DHCP by your Plusnet router 192.168.1.***

@keithshafto Do you have any browser extensions running? Ad blockers? Anything like a pihole blocking sites?

javascript blocking? If you do try temporarily turning them off and see if that makes a difference.

Another potential thing to do, and not sure if it still works, is to turn the router off for 30 seconds and back on again to see if it picks up another IP from Plusnet.

Personally I don't think it's deliberate to prevent people getting the money. I think the purecard website detected an error it doesn't know how to handle and that was the default message.

No don't have any browser extentions running, I've turned off all trackers, no pi holes loaded and javascript is running as I need it on for my own site.

Done the turn it off and on again thing but no joy. Tried it on a mates iPhone and got the same screen. So it doesn't work on iPhone, doesn't work on Firefox (mac) doesn't work on Safari (mac), doesnt work on Chrome, doesn't work on Samsung internet (Android) and doesn't work on Explorer (PC). If you check out the code on the .jpg I uploaded on the original thread looks like it's designed not to work!

Thanks for your help.

Ok. I hoped one of those would work for you.

From what I can tell Purecard uses 'DataDome - Bot Management & Agent Trust Platform' prior to their sign in page and it is DataDome which is presenting that message to you (I can see it's name in the title in the screenshot) and it is the one thinking there is a bot or similar and then it's not proceeding to Purecard website itself. (Other websites use Cloudflare)

For me it ends up at: https://plusnet.purecard.com/activate/ActivateStep1

but I'm not sure you can use that directly or if trying to get to that also comes up with the same error.

The message feels like something for the developers of Datadome rather than us end users. The large number at the bottom is a 'Globally Unique ID' (aka GUID) probably generated for their web developers to use to work out where it isn't working.

Unfortunately it'll probably be something that Purecard and DataDome need to work on if you can't find a way past it with other computers/webbrowsers.

One thing I've seen mentioned is to not access the website for a few hours and then go back to it but if you've left it overnight and tried again then I'd expect that to be the same.

Can't really offer any assistance but it could be some odd characteristic of your connection or environment that is causing the problem. Are the tests you are doing using phones using your Plusnet Wi-Fi or mobile data?

Hi All,

Thanks everybody for your advice.

I'd just like to let you all know I have cracked it. This may be handy for anyone else experiencing the same problem.

It seems that page is displayed when you connect to the web using your router, even my neigbours!

So I turned off the wifi on my phone and turned on 5G Mobile data and bingo, straight in.

I'm off to spend the lot before it changes it's mind.

Thanks again for your help,

Kind regards,

Keith.

@keithshafto
