The price is on MoneySupermarket. Why would I ask EE to take over my connection at the same cost I pay to PN? It’s still more expensive than EE.

I’m currently in contract for another 13 months with PN. I pay £39.99 for the 900mb service. I can get the same package with EE for £25.99 per month and a £150 gift card.
If I transfer to EE will I still be charged the early termination fee? I heard somewhere that as it’s within the ‘BT group’ you don’t get charged. Is this right?
My fee would be £479 or thereabouts.

Many thanks
Paul

Can you really? Their web site suggests that this is the monthly cost of their 74Mbps service.

The bottom line is that your options are to ask Plusnet to transfer your current contract, at the same price for the rest of your contract to EE, or you pay the early termination charges and start a new contract with EE.

You entered into a fixed term contract, at a known price, with enjoined increases and exit terms. Why do you think you should be released without penalty to get service from elsewhere before the contract has concluded?

EE was offering to pay ETCs up £300 recently. Such might be the most you can reasonably expect.

EE won't cover ETCs from BT group transfers.

https://ee.co.uk/help/broadband/getting-started/early-cancellation-credit#article-heading-4
When you're not eligible
If you cancel EE Broadband within 14 days of activation
If you don’t send your final bill within 4 months
If you’ve won EE Broadband or TV in a competition, unless the competition terms say EE Switch applies
If you're a BT Group employee
If the termination charges are from BT, EE, Plusnet, or business broadband

I believe the ETC are only being waived when moving to EE for the purpose of getting customers off the legacy PSTN services.

As you're on the 900mb FTTP service, I doubt you'll be able to get out of that.

Whereas, if you were still on FTTC (non SOGEA) then yes, you would have been able to.

What you might be able to try though is to recontract with Plusnet as they often allow you to change to a current deal in exchange for agreeing to another 24 months.

The deal on MoneySupermarket is that £300 exit fee is paid. I heard that transferring within the BT group you didn’t have to pay the fee. I must of heard wrong. I will just wait out my contract.
It’s not like I can’t afford it, just seen a deal and thought I would enquire.

The group is rarely that flexible … unless it suits them such as the PTSN exit.

i have recently transferred my EE phone from a business arrangement to a personal one - same deal, it’s out of contract so I can depart anytime I want without penalty (30 days notice). What I cannot do is move to the Plusnet SIM only deals until six months into the personal arrangement (in spite of what I was told on the switch). Probably connected to me paying for far more than I need and the Plusnet SIM offer being substantially cheaper.

They might well be part of the same division but there’s limited commercial camaraderie between them.
