In the (now distant) past I was able to "suspend" my account during a delayed move - I believe it had a max suspension of 3 months but it turned out to be rather longer and all ended OK. I don't know whether that is still possible.

I must say I don't believe it is in any company's interests to be too intransigent with contracts, as once you upset a customer with penalties that they can't avoid, you lose that customer for ever. And they'll tell their friends.

Moving House

I am moving house soon so I asked Plusnet what my options were. I have a contract with 16months to run.

I need to move to temporary accommodation initially as I haven't found the right house. This rental has a Starlink system as it's quite remote. I have been advised that my only options are to transfer to the rental or cancel at a cost of £120. I have several referral discounts which I don't want to loose, and I use my plusnet email as well. The rental doesn't have a phone line at all as it's a converted barn, and the Starlink is shared with the main house

I have also been a Plusnet customer for over 25 years too.

Any advise? Once settled I intend to reinstate my Plusnet account.

I fear that there’s little likelihood of Plusnet suspending your account. Can you do some sort of deal with whoever takes over your current property whereby you pay for the connection until you are permanently settled?

Could the rental property have a phone line (leaving aside that it has Starlink)?

If so, it might be worth transfering your Plusnet service there even if it would be very slow, just to keep the account active.
