No £145 Reward card

Signed up with Quidco, took screenshot of the button pressed which shows ‘£145 reward card, full fibre 500 and 93.75 cash back’. I have evidence of the 93,75 received from Quidco supporting that this was the deal selected. Plusnet are now rejecting that there was an offer which we selected and have not sent the card (for internal Plusnet readers, complaint <Redacted> refers). The billings team have officially clarified that our full fibre 500 package did not come with the reward card and have put all onus on us to disprove. All connection to Quidco has been rejected, Quidco advise they have no dealings in the reward card. We can evidence through the image from Quidco and the amount received back that the only offer on the site at that time was the one with the reward card.

What is going on, this is despicable and dishonest trading - Plusnet are not corresponding with the parties who are offering these deals, a simple web search shows that this is a prolific issue. Plusnet have now washed their hands of this.

10 years with sky to move to plus net, I’ll be severing ties with this lot at the soonest opportunity.

BUYER BEWARE! Read the complaints against Plusnet before signing up and record every single element of offers that are selected.

One gets ether the partner’s deal or Plusnet’s reward card - not both.

Thanks for the reply, this statement (cash or reward) has not been made by either Plusnet or Quidco throughout numerous employees comments and statements made by them (and in fact would of made this whole rig amoral a lot quicker and easier) - What I can evidence is an image (screenshot) of a Quidco button stating that the offer is full fibre 500, cash back “plus” £145 reward card. This is miss selling of a Plusnet contract through there partners.

Sight of that screen shot would be interesting. I raised the issue with the business and was advised…

Quidco's website states - 'Cashback will not be paid in conjunction with any other offer, voucher, reward or discount code unless listed on this page, or with any other discounts such as refer a friend, staff or student discounts'.

Which matches reasonable expectations - one or the other, not both. If you’re expecting both and not getting both, perhaps your issue is with the site which suggested you could have both?

To confirm for anyone in the same or similar situation and save them the inconvenience once multiple calls and discussions had with plusnet, the final answer:

‘..Here's the feedback from our cashback team: The promo code on your account is not eligible for a reward card from Plusnet. We are unable to assist further with the claim as you aren't due a cashback reward. Apologies for the inconvenience..’

I still have a screen shot from Quidco stating that I am eligible to £145 reward card, £93.75 cash back and full fibre 500 - I must be lieing…

Now it’s down to me chase with Quidco as a complaint in the knowledge that I have already tried and they had advised I contact Plusnet as they deal with the reward cards - congratulations Plusnet and Quidco, you have successfully duped the consumer.

I will leave with the old adage, a person will tell 1 person of a good experience and 10 people of a bad one.

Hi John, this was Quidco - who regardless of the terms have stated that our reward card discussion is to be had with Plus net, and have also not said anything about a cash or reward card situation - I would add that of sound mind I would not willingly choose £93 instead of £145 - which leads to the conclusion that pursuing this any further is not worth it as the parties that willingly advertise these offers do it in full knowledge that this is misleading. As mentioned in the initial post simple google searches show how widespread this is. I am signing off for this now, and simply highlighting to anyone else who reads to go with caution and record everything.

In your reflections on this matter, have you considered the possibility that the folks who got this wrong are Quidco, not Plusnet? Plusnet have NEVER offered double incentives - one via a referral partner and one direct on the product.

At the end of the day, you bought via Quidco's advertising. If you find that their promotion is false, then you have a case to take to the ASA against Quidco.

Hi, thanks for the reply - you may very well be right, but this doesn’t detract from the fact that neither Plus net or Quidco have stated this throughout the correspondence - Quid co say talk to Plusnet and Plusnet say talk to Quid co. They are partners in this deal/offer scheme and the advertising is misleading, why should it be hidden in the terms (if it is) when if you view the link I posted on my previous post the button clearly states cash back, full fibre 500 and £145 reward card. In this assertion of blame exercise the only person who loses out is the consumer!

Personally, I believe this could easily be classed as miss selling if taken to tribunal or given to the ombudsman regardless of the terms.

The fact of the matter is that this is happening to many people, and neither businesses promotions appear as actively regulated in such a way that protects the consumer - who is responsible when both deny involvement, one person may say Plus net, one may say Quid co, both could be right or wrong but essentially what does it matter as the only body who could make a relevant decision would be an ombudsman or trading standards agency which could take significant time and energy to pursue. Meanwhile my £30 a month is securely contracted and in Plus net’s pocket. For this reason, feeling duped I politely requested early exit if this is not concluded and this was also denied.

Back to my original sentiment, this is to warn anyone else who is in the same situation as myself - feeling mis lead and hung out to dry. There is no conclusion here for the poor marketing practises, don’t waste your time - Quid co and/or Plus net win, …remember that incentive you took to get you in the door - ‘ha ha fooled you!’

I have added the Quidco response to the escalation. It is apparent that both party's first line support are doing what might be thought reasonable...

PlusNet: you are NOT entitled to a reward card and you speak to Quidco about the cashback
Quidco: we do not deal with reward cards, speak to Plusnet about those

... these positions are correct and valid, however in the context of Quidco stating that you can have both, what is required is escalation to owning managers on both sides. I can confirm that Plusnet is acting in this manner, one awaits their findings.

However what cannot be denied is that Quidco are not accepting that you engaged with THEIR misleading advertisement and that is a matter for them to deal with in a professional manner. Have to made such clear to them, rather than chasing your tail with "Plusnet are not honouring the reward card"? Have you said to Quidco that there advertisement was misleading and a potential case to refer to the ASA if Quidco do not address your valid issue with them?

Even though many steps are taken to ensure ads are in line with the Codes before they are aired or published, consumers have the right to complain about ads they have seen, which they believe to be misleading, harmful or offensive.

The ASA can act on just one complaint. We don’t play a numbers game: our concern is whether the ad rules have been broken.

You need to challenge Quidco for their evidence that the claims they made in respect of what they advertised - both incentives were payable - which induced you to purchase were valid. It is evident that what they claimed in their advert is misleading and has placed you in a detrimental position compared to the expectation you were given. Therefore they are in breach of the ASA code.

Hi, I am afraid I didn’t note whether it did or didn’t, sorry - we were content it was the link followed from Quidco though so wouldn’t of been looking for whether it was stated to be included/ omitted.
