That does not make any sense if you have paid the final invoice. Without giving away any personal information, what do these emails say?

I have left Plusnet after many years, but now I’m being plagued with emails trying to make me pay for future months. Thank goodness that I cancelled my Direct Debit once the final bill was settled. The Billing Department seems shambolic.

One needs to read carefully what's said and read between the lines.

Was this the final bill in the user's eyes when they left within the minimum term**

Has the user gone to an alt net in a manner which has not closed down the Plusnet account correctly ... but that world not have produced a "final bill"

We have seen migrations to VM and other providers, both within and outside of the OTS migration service, not advising the losing provider that the customer has moved away, leading to billing continuing. It is easy just to claim or infer foul play with partial facts, where the full disclosure of all the facts might identify a failure by a third-party.

**Contracts are very clear at the point of signing up - they are for a fixed minimum term and leaving early will incur ETCs ... which could be described as ... "trying to make me pay for future months". Cancelling a DD rather than managing the issue appropriately could lead to more dire consequences, along the lines of DRA action, bailiffs and damage to credit scores.
