My contract will finish on 23April 2025. If I do not renew the contact and wait for couple of months and then shop around any consequences? I am overseas currently hence the question.

@Nisarath Yes - the couple of months and any 'shopping around' time will be charged at the out-of-contract price you can see on your account.

As I said - if you do not renew/re-negotiate the contract, you will be charged at the out of contract rate until such time as you do so, or move ISP.

@Nisarath its not a 'fixed term' contract, its a 'minimum term' contract. Provision of the service doesnt stop at the end of the minimum term!. As @jab1 says , you just move to a rolling monthly contract at the 'out of contract' rate.

I believe it's a 30 day rolling contract you go on. Now you've seen the out of contract price I would suggest you decide on things asap to keep the cost down. Note, if moving, you do not tell PN. You let your new ISP do the work.

If you have a traditional copper based phone line this will be lost if (when) you move. VOIP will be the only way if you want to retain a phone. Note you would also lose PN email and any other add ons you may have.

I often wondered about what happens if you decided notify the provider to end the service on the contract end date?

If for example like you and travelling for a while.

When you come back is it just as simple of looking for an ISP again, even back to Plusnet as a new customer.

Would you qualify for any gift cards etc

I understand in this case you would loose the pstn phone line though

Yes - when you come back, you will have to find a 'new' ISP.

If you returned to PN you would not qualify as a 'new' customer until after 12 months of cancelling the contract.

When you come back is it just as simple of looking for an ISP again, even back to Plusnet as a new customer.

Yes, but I'm not sure if you'd qualify as a new customer with Plusnet ? ( maybe if there was a significant period before coming back )

Would you qualify for any gift cards etc

If qualified as a new customer then yes.

I understand in this case you would loose the pstn phone line though

Correct. If you wanted to retain the number, then it would be possible to port it to a voip supplier in the mean time, even if you didn't use it. For instance porting to A & A would cost £12 and then £1.44/month. You then still retain ownership of the number and In the future you could then port to another supplier when needed.#

edit: maybe if there was a significant period before coming back , as @jab1 says , 12 months
