No more Domain Renewals !!

Hi, I received an email notification that my domain would expire on 11th March 2025. I contacted Plusnet support in early February to renew the domain.

I've now been told that Plusnet no longer supports domains and I will have to transfer to another hosting partner.

I've received no notification email that this was going to happen and, according to the support person I was speaking to, email processing will be discontinued in the future too.

I've been with Plusnet since before 2010 and am severely impacted by this change of policy.

I'm posting this as I only have 4 weeks to resolve this situation and hopefully other members will not be caught unawares (as I was).

Hi John,

apparently I haven't been misinformed ... support now do not have access to renew domains and have been told (by management) that domain renewals are no longer supported.

@outcast I have have more faith in what the SUs - who have direct contact with higher management - tell us than non-customers who make assumptions.

@ABAPMonkey I will wait for a response from @Townman / @MisterW before passing any further comment.

So what authenticated information do you have to make such a mocking statement? You’re not even a customer. Your persistent speculations about the future are not helpful, they just create a lot of FUD. Why all of your scaremongering? “Outcast” has tones of sour grapes … please put the axe down.

The business has stated on several occasions that if and when there’s something changing, customers affected will be informed direct, not via CSA gossip. Sadly and frustratingly the front line CSAs have an unsavoury track record of giving out misinformation, matters the SUs feedback into the business for correction.

Over the years, the SUs have made strenuous representations to the business on proposed changes to the offerings and continue to do so. Be assured that if there were any firm suggestions that email was just disappearing, we would be making a lot of noise.

I'm sorry to say you've been mis-informed. I've seen details provided on the ticket, and I'll provide feedback in a moment.

Your domain is set to auto-renew, which will mean it is done for you, but there is a little time left before it expires. I'll have a word with the guys that renew for you anyway.

I appreciate all your help in resolving this. It was not my intention to scaremonger but to highlight this as an issue which would cause multiple users a large amount of grief (as per the information I was given).

Feel free to remove this thread, however I would suggest someone write a post entitled 'How to renew a Domain'

@ABAPMonkey The topic will remain, as it may help others, but to be honest, your domain would probably have auto-renewed anyway.

No problem, you were right to post. You posted based on the information you were given by the agent. The problem is the agent giving incorrect information. I'm glad we were able to correct it quickly and get it fed back to the agent concerned.

As @jab1 says your domain would have auto-renewed anyway. The agent should have known that and informed you.

Hi Steve,

No, you were not scaremongering; you were given not the best of information and rightly sought clarification. The wrong information does indeed lead to grief and confusion.

The fact that agents sometimes (too often ?) get things wrong also at times fuel cynicism about Plusnet's direction, which is not overly helpful.

I'm still getting warning emails from Plusnet that my domain expires on 11th March 2025. Checking my domain expiry date on my Account Detail it still shows 11/03/2025 ... despite being told that it has been renewed. Can anybody help ?

I had been told that the domain had been renewed on two separate occasions and so I expected ,y domain date to reflect that.

I'll mark this problem as fixed when it is renewed.

I have an other slight issue in that I cannot raise a ticket to adjust my ICANN whois information as I should adjust my telephone number on it

In other news, the domain has been renewed over the weekend.
