Hi John,

Let’s be clear, no one is offering landlines as we know them. Some providers are offering bundled VoIP services, including BT and EE.

Plusnet are offering contracts on existing services as is, which means until PTSN is switched off (current revisions looks like 2027) you can continue as is. If you move and you use Plusnet’s email you will lose it.

Just to prove the point, one of my referrals renewed FTTC + phone for two years last week, their email service being a key consideration. We will deal with the landline number when the time comes.

formal complaint

i have now had twice the sales person ring me from plusnet trying to get me to renue my contract but when i say no because plusnet are not going to offer a landline servive after bt switch of fthe landlines and i want a service that does so i am moving to voda phone.. she tried to get me to renue my contract by saying at the moment i would still have a land line but changed the subject when i pointed out theres no landline through plusnet after bt close landline so the contract she is offering isnt what i said i wanted.... i am annoyed that she tried to get me into a contract when as i expained numerous times why i didnt want a contract with plusnet... she was trying to get me to sign up to something i didnt want

will someone @plusnet confirm they are offering NO landline services after the turn off by bt. and will some one teel the sales staff to stop trying to get me into a contract they know isnt what i want and stop sending the contract summery i dont want it

TO BE CLEAR I DONT WANT TO RENUE A CONTRACT WITH PLUSNET SO STOP TRYING

My guess is that Vodafone (like BT or Zen as a couple of other examples) will provide a router with a phone socket and a VoIP service.

If that meets your requirements it's a good solution and tends to be fairly reasonably priced.

Do note that it's only the socket on the router that has the phone socket. Any existing extensions won't work unless you connect them to Vodafone's router. This is the case however (fibre or copper) Vodafone will provide your broadband.

Only a renewal with Plusnet on the same product as you currently have will let you continue with the phoneline service you currently have.

As stated, there will no no copper landline offfered by any other provider. Those who offer a phone service will be doing so using VOIP.

You can renew your contract "as is" for the time being but there is a lot of debate as to when the phone service will be withdrawn. I believe it's by the end of this year as that's when OR are terminating all WLR contracts except in exceptional circumstances.

If you leave PN you lose PN email and any other add on services you may have. You can stay with PN for internet and move your phone service to an independant supplier like A&A. This takes more work than movinmg to a supplier who does both.

https://www.aa.net.uk/voice-and-mobile/voip-information/

To clarify, it is Openreach, not "BT", (they are different companies within BT Group), that has taken the decision to cease the Public Switched Telephone Network, (PSTN).

I appreciate that doesn't affect your main complaint, but as has been stated, no Openreach delivered provider will be able to offer you a "traditional" telephone service once Openreach switch off the PSTN - after that it will only be VOIP available.

BT (retail) are now business customers only , so I wonder if that's the reason ?

If you want to transfer from Plusnet to BT / EE, then the simplest way is to ask Plusnet to do it (make it happen). If you have any in-contract time left, asking Plusnet to initiate the transfer waives ETCs.
