Relative cost of full fibre and wired broadband...

Hi,

Both my daughters get their broadband via Plusnet – but are charged different amounts, one pays £25.99 whilst the other pays £26.99 - apparently for the same thing. When I queried this with Plusnet (my interest being I pay their bills…), I was told that one account has full fibre whilst the other has not. I asked the obvious question, assuming the £26.99 account was the full fibre account but apparently not – the cheapest account i.e. the £25.99 is the fibre. Their explanation was that there are less maintenance costs on a fibre line – which 'sort' of made sense…

Got an email from Plusnet this morning offering me full fibre – I was quite excited as I assumed it would save me money but no – Plusnet want £34.99 – at present I’m paying £33.99 for FTTC. Actually I pay a bit more ‘cos I also have a call package but I would have carried that over…

So in my case apparently full fibre is more expensive…

Probably makes sense to someone but I really never did understand Plusnet costings…

Full fibre costs vary widely , depending on the speed you choose, from 74Mb up to 900Mb

What speed are you currently on? PN no longer offer a "Up to 40" product so, while they'll renew any current users on this speed they won't offer upgrades or new customers this.

When I moved from the FTTP Trial I was on I had to go to the FF74 product.

If you want to keep a landline you need to go to VOIP and be ready to move when your account chnages if you go the SOGEA product.
